A 29-year-old youth from Tamil Nadu, V Bhoopathy bought the bike of his dream Bajaj Dominar 400, after saving for three years. Bhoopathy, a YouTuber, chose a unique mode of payment to purchase his bike from a showroom on Saturday. He paid Rs 2.6 lakh, using only one-rupee coins in the Salem-based bike showroom.
The bike was handed over to him after five members of the showroom staff, along with four of his friends, counted the one rupee coins for over 10 hours. The coins were brought to the showroom in a van and offloaded using wheelbarrows. While the showroom manager was initially reluctant to accept the payment in coins, the manager changed his mind later as he did not want to disappoint a customer. Bhoopathy selected this showroom in Salem after the manager said he has the vehicle he desired for.

Speaking to PTI, Bhoopathy said, "I had assured the bike showroom manager I would take responsibility to convert the one rupee coins to currency notes in case of any difficulty. Due to the ongoing bank strike, it appears I have to convert them to currency notes." Within a day the youth had managed to convert 40,000 one rupee coins into currency notes and claims it would not be difficult to convert up to Rs 2 lakh.
Bhoopathy also shared a video of his bike-buying experience.
