Kimberly Margeson, 54, is alleged to have given her son William Partridge, 30, two strong Oxycodone painkiller pills when they kissed during a visit on Tuesday last week, the New York Daily News reported.
The police said that it is not known whether the mother-son duo used tongues to facilitate the exchange.
According to The Smoking Gun, Margeson was arrested and charged with a felony drug count and a misdemeanour count of promoting prison contraband.
She has pled not guilty to the two charges and was released on a 2,000-dollar bail.
Partridge was charged with a misdemeanour count of promoting prison contraband.
Margeson put the pills into her mouth before visiting the jail "she then passed two pills from her mouth to her son's mouth when she kissed him," the report said.
The drugs - an opioid narcotic pain reliever similar to morphine - were for Partridge's use.
