Keith Paro, 34, of West Springfield, turned himself in to police on Thursday after carrying out the attack on Tuesday night, the New York Daily News reported.
Cops said the two were arguing at her home at around 10 p.m. when Paro went to a cage, pulled his 4-foot ball python out and began lashing the woman with it, The Republican newspaper reported.
He also threw a set of temporary stairs at her and trashed the house before taking off, cops said.
The snake didn't survive the bizarre incident, cops said.
The woman suffered bruising to her knees, back, arms and stomach.
Paro pleaded not guilty on Friday to domestic assault and battery, larceny, animal cruelty and other counts. He was being held on 2,500-dollar bail, the newspaper said.
Paro is due in court on Nov. 27.u00a0
