Vendors at the market claimed that the bandh had not affected the prices of vegetables and prices, though the market opened only late in the evening. "We have to sell the vegetables we have stocked. So hiking the price will not help," said Ram Gupta, vegetable vendor at Pali market.
Vendors at Nana chowk also had a similar tale.
Ashok Walunj, director of Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMC), said, "The prices of fruits and vegetable may decrease as vendors have stocked more than enough. So to get rid of old stock they might sell at a cheaper rate. About 150 truckloads of vegetables arrived on Sunday, while 400 trucks were sent on Monday morning to the vendors. There is enough stock in the market. The prices will not increase," said Walunj.
