Mumbai, Maharashtra get new police chiefs

Sanjeev Dayal was on Monday made the Commissioner of Mumbai. Dayal replaced D Sivanandan for the post. Meanwhile, Sivanandan was promoted as Director General of Maharashtra.


Sanjeev Dayal was on Monday made the Commissioner of Mumbai. Dayal replaced D Sivanandan for the post. Meanwhile, Sivanandan was promoted as Director General of Maharashtra.

Sivanandan superceded Hasan Ghafoor (DG Anti-Corruption) and PP Srivastava (DG Home Guard) for post.

Dayal was serving as additional DG special operation before being given charge of Mumbai Commissioner.

Director General and former Mumbai Commissioner A N Roy retired from the post

Sivanandan shot to fame during his momentous tenure as head of the Mumbai Crime Branch, when the police began gunning for the underworld in late 90s. Dayal is known for his transparent working.
