Gay parties in the city are getting increasingly innovative by the day or night as the case maybe. The latest trend to reach Mumbai's shores is gay foam parties. The next big gay party is an all-night foam party scheduled in Gorai on May 29. The party is being advertised as India's first openly gay party on websites and chat rooms frequented by the LGBT community.u00a0u00a0u00a0

The foam party is being seen by gays in the city as a sign of the increasing confidence of the city's gay and lesbian community that celebrated the reading down of Article 377 by the Delhi High Court.

After the high court judgment, which decriminalised consensual sex between adults irrespective of their gender, gay-themed parties are getting bolder by the day. According to the invite, posted by the organisers, the party will have a floor covered with foam (height of 4 feet). The foam generated will be non-toxic and made of mostly organic chemicals with no side-effects on the skin.

Harish Iyer, a regular at gay parties, claims that he is hearing about the foam gay party for the first time.

"I am glad that such parties are being organised. Why should only straight people have all the fun? Such parties are a sign that more and more people are coming out of the closet and we are trying other media too," he said.

What's foam party?

A foam party needs special preparation. Foam machines that dispense bubbles have to be installed on the dance floor. Participants usually wear bathing suits for such parties. Maintaining a steady flow of foam is difficult therefore the duration of such parties is between 3-4 hours only.
