Women's Reservation Bill: Sonia Gandhi opens up discussion on the bill

Indian National Congress Chairperson and Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi while speaking over the Women’s Reservation Bill in parliament supported the passing of the bill and said it was an emotional moment for herself. But, further, she said, they are also concerned at the same time as women have been waiting for a long period and demanded the bill should be implemented with immediate effect. She said, “On behalf of Indian National Congress, I stand in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023. Women`s Reservation Bill | Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi says, "This is an emotional moment of my own life as well. Congress party supports this Bill. We are happy regarding the passing of the Bill but we are also concerned. I would like to ask a question. Indian women have been waiting for their political responsibilities for the last 13 years. Now they are being asked to wait for a few more years. How many years? Is this behaviour with Indian women appropriate? INC demands that the Bill be implemented with immediate effect but Caste census should also be done and arrangements for reservation of SC, ST and OBC women should be made.”
