Shashi Tharoor attacks PM Modi on his UCC and triple talaq statements

In a Poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 27 pushed for Uniform Civil Code. Soon after PM Modi’s remark in a poll-bound state, a political slugfest erupted ahead of the elections. PM’s remark has triggered a nationwide debate with the Opposition accusing the Centre of using UCC for political gain. Speaking to ANI on ‘Triple Talaq’ and ‘UCC’, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said as far as Triple Talaq is concerned, it`s already illegal in the Supreme Court ruling. Furthermore, he added that Congress is not saying Triple Talaq is good, it is bad but how can you criminalise the abandonment of a wife by a husband in one faith when it is not a criminal offense in another faith?
