Kolkata rape case: Protesting doctors celebrate after CM Mamata removes Kolkata Police commissioner

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has addressed the ongoing conflict with junior doctors by making several significant concessions. In a recent statement, she announced that the Kolkata Police Commissioner will resign, responding to grievances related to police actions. Additionally, the health department’s request for the removal of three officials has been partially met, with two officials being removed as a compromise. Banerjee emphasized that the government has fulfilled 99% of the junior doctors` demands and urged them to return to work to avoid further public inconvenience. Following the meeting on September 16, junior doctors celebrated the resolution as four of their five key demands were met. This development marks a crucial step towards resolving the conflict and resuming normal healthcare services in the region. The Kolkata rape case has garnered worldwide attention with doctors and public voicing for the victim together.
