Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 8th edition of the International Telecommunication Union at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Alongside ITU-WTSA, PM Modi also inaugurated the 8th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) with the theme "The Future is Now." IMC is Asia's largest digital technology forum, showcasing advancements in telecom, quantum technology, 6G, 5G, cloud computing, IoT, and more.

The events will host over 3,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and tech experts from over 190 countries, facilitating crucial discussions on new-age technologies like 6G, AI, Big Data, and cybersecurity.

Hosting ITU-WTSA in India allows the country to influence global telecom standards and foster innovation in Intellectual Property Rights and Standard Essential Patents, benefiting Indian startups and research institutions.

IMC 2024 will feature 400 exhibitors and 900 startups, and highlight over 900 technology use-case scenarios. It aims to provide a platform for industry, government, academia, startups, and global stakeholders to explore innovative solutions and services.

The events will emphasize advancements in quantum technology, circular economy, cybersecurity, green tech, satellite communications, and electronics manufacturing, reflecting the diverse interests of the global telecom sector.

PM Modi underscored the strategic importance of these forums, bringing together stakeholders to shape the global telecom agenda and drive future technologies that will impact digital and ICT sectors worldwide.

Both ITU-WTSA 2024 and IMC 2024 aim to set the course for future technologies, fostering collaborations and showcasing India's capabilities in the telecom and digital technology sectors on a global stage.
