Leaders of several oppn parties belonging to INDIA bloc convened in New Delhi to discuss electoral preparations & strategy ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, addressing the media after the meeting, asserted that the INDIA bloc is confident of securing more than 295 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. This projection is based on feedback from the public, termed as a "people's survey," indicating optimism among opposition leaders regarding electoral outcomes.

The opposition leaders deliberated on various issues, including precautions to be taken on the counting day to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process. They instructed party workers to remain vigilant and not leave counting halls until all formalities were completed.

The opposition parties have sought time from the Election Commission to raise concerns and urge prompt resolution of electoral issues. This demonstrates their commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and addressing any discrepancies.

Some opposition leaders expressed anticipation regarding the release of Exit Poll results, suggesting that the BJP may be content with preliminary outcomes, while they await the official results on June 4.

Kharge targeted the BJP, alleging attempts to shape the narrative through government exit polls. The opposition aims to provide the public with accurate information and counter any misinformation propagated by the ruling party.

The meeting was attended by prominent leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and others, highlighting the unity and coordination among opposition parties.

Despite earlier reservations expressed by the Congress, the INDIA bloc parties announced their participation in exit poll debates. This decision indicates a collective approach to engage in discussions and communicate their perspectives to the public.

Leaders expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc's electoral prospects, emphasising their commitment to addressing people's issues and safeguarding democracy and the Constitution.

Once the election results are declared, a common minimum programme will be devised, serving as the basis for the new government's agenda and policy framework, as indicated by CPI-M's Sitaram Yechury.

DMK leader T R Baalu expressed confidence in winning all 40 seats from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry collectively with the Congress, reflecting optimism about the alliance's electoral performance in the region.

Congress' K C Venugopal expressed optimism about INDIA forming a government with a thumping majority, highlighting the significance of June 4th as the beginning of a new chapter in India's democracy, where constitutional values will be upheld.
