Cloudbursts in Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, have led to catastrophic consequences. Shimla district alone reported two fatalities and 28 missing persons due to a cloudburst at Samej Khud

Rescue teams, including the NDRF, ITBP, police, and home guards, are working tirelessly to locate and rescue those missing. The use of drones is aiding in the search efforts. However, the adverse conditions, such as washed-away roads and continuous rains, are making the operations challenging. Authorities are prioritizing the safety and well-being of those affected

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other government officials have assured Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of all possible help from the Centre. The state is seeking additional support from the Army and Air Force, and two more NDRF teams are being deployed to assist in the ongoing rescue and relief operations

The heavy rains and cloudbursts have caused widespread damage to infrastructure in the affected areas. Four motorable bridges and several footbridges have been washed away, and numerous roads have been blocked due to landslides. Additionally, the apple crop in the region has suffered significant damage, adding to the economic impact of the disaster

Alongside government agencies, local residents and volunteers are actively participating in rescue operations. Their efforts are crucial in reaching and assisting those trapped or stranded due to the adverse weather conditions. The collaboration between authorities and the community is vital in managing the aftermath of the disaster

The Meteorological Department has recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall across various stations in the state, with Palampur being the wettest area. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued for Kangra, Chamba, Kullu, and Mandi districts. The state is expected to continue experiencing wet conditions for the next four to five days, complicating the ongoing rescue and relief efforts

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh have claimed 65 lives and caused losses amounting to Rs 433 crore. The state is facing significant challenges in terms of human casualties, infrastructure damage, and economic impact.

Continuous efforts are being made to mitigate the effects and provide relief to those affected by the severe weather conditions
