Balraj Gill, arrested at Kolkata airport, led to the recovery. He had disposed of the body. Pahuja was allegedly killed because of extortion and blackmail involving obscene pictures of the hotel owner, Abhijeet Singh.
Pahuja was taken to Hotel City Point by five individuals and shot in the head in room number 111. The motive behind the killing was her alleged extortion of money from the hotel owner through blackmail.
Gurugram Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Kumar Dahiya confirmed the recovery of Pahuja's body from the subsidiary canal of the Bhakra canal in Fatehabad's Tohana.
ACP Dahiya mentioned that the recovered body would undergo a post-mortem examination to determine the cause and manner of death.
Surveillance footage from Hotel City Point revealed Singh and other accused dragging Pahuja's body through the lobby. The group fled the hotel with the body in the car's boot.
Abhijeet Singh handed over the car with Pahuja's body to Balraj Gill, who later abandoned the vehicle at a bus stand in Patiala, Punjab.
Police arrested four people initially, including Abhijeet, in connection with the case. Balraj Gill and another accused, Ravi Banga, are implicated in disposing of Pahuja's body. Banga is yet to be apprehended.
