Maha Shivaratri, a significant Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracted a multitude of worshippers to queue up outside the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.

The large turnout of devotees from various places resulted in long queues outside the temple.

Recognising the significance of the occasion and the need to regulate the influx of worshippers, authorities deployed security personnel to facilitate the movement of devotees and prevent any untoward incidents outside the temple.

In Prayagraj, devotees were observed taking ritualistic dips in the holy waters of Sangam ghat as part of their Maha Shivaratri observance signifying the cleansing of sins and the rejuvenation of the soul on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Meanwhile, devotees thronged the revered Srisailam Temple, participating in various religious ceremonies and rituals aimed at invoking the grace of Lord Shiva and experiencing spiritual enlightenment on the sacred day of Maha Shivaratri.

The management of Srisailam Temple took proactive measures to accommodate the influx of worshippers, ensuring a seamless and peaceful celebration of Maha Shivaratri for all devotees.

Devotees expressed their reverence through traditional chants, hymns, and the symbolic lighting of lamps, creating a serene and sacred atmosphere conducive to spiritual reflection and introspection.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain was adorned with illuminations as devotees gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and witness the grand 'Bhasma Aarti' ceremony conducted by the temple priests in reverence to Lord Shiva.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Mahashivaratri, invoking blessings for renewed energy and strength, while urging unity and resilience in the pursuit of national progress and prosperity.
