The Indian National Congress marked its 139th Foundation Day on Thursday. On the occassion Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unfurled the party flag at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Headquarters in Delhi.

Kharge met with prominent party figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Rajiv Shukla, and General Secretary KC Venugopal at the AICC Headquarters before hoisting the flag. 

Founded in 1885 in Bombay (now Mumbai), the Congress's inception involved 72 delegates convening at Das Tejpal Sanskrit College, with AO Hume as its founder and General Secretary and Vyomesh Chandra Banerjee as its first president.

Kharge highlighted the party's commitment to building an India founded on parliamentary democracy and equality, prioritizing public welfare and progress, as the party embarks on its Lok Sabha poll campaign with a massive rally in Nagpur.

Kharge reiterated the Congress's objective of promoting public welfare and the advancement of Indian citizens, emphasising the party's dedication to this cause for the past 138 years.

Rahul Gandhi reflected on the Congress's principles, stating its foundation on truth and non-violence, pillars based on love, fraternity, respect, and equality, and its commitment to patriotism, aligning with the party's values.

The Congress is set to inaugurate its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the 'Hain Tayyar Hum' rally in Nagpur, aiming to convey a message of change and defeat the ruling BJP, as asserted by Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole.

Kharge, along with former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to address the 'Hain Tayyar Hum' rally, highlighting the party's leadership involvement and commitment to mobilizing support for the forthcoming elections.

The Congress's strategic approach includes active participation by top leaders, focusing on conveying the party's principles, vision, and plans for India's future, particularly in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
