The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a drop in the national capital's minimum temperature to 9.1 degrees Celcius on Sunday, contributing to a chilly and fog-laden morning for residents.

Visuals from various locations like Lodhi Road, Safdarjung Road, Jor Bagh, Sri Aurobindo Marg, and AIIMS depicted thick fog blankets enveloping the area, limiting visibility and reducing activity on the streets.

Earlier, the Palam observatory noted a minimum temperature of 14 degrees Celcius, while Safdarjung recorded 12.2 degrees Celcius on Saturday, signaling a perceptible decline in the mercury.

With the intensifying chill, locals sought warmth around bonfires, highlighting the increasing need to combat the biting cold.

Commuters expressed the challenging conditions, emphasizing the bone-chilling effect of the cold, necessitating heavy woollens and headgear for protection against the frigid weather.

Visitors to the city, particularly those in Delhi for medical reasons, voiced concerns about inadequate shelter facilities, citing limitations in accessing accommodations like Rain Basera due to overcrowding and restrictions.

Alongside the temperature drop, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the 'Very Poor' category, indicating heightened pollution levels, as per SAFAR-India's data at 8 am on Sunday.
