Police have arrested 46 individuals in connection with the violent clashes that erupted during a Ganesh idol procession in Nagamangala town, Mandya.

The violence broke out when an argument escalated between two groups during a procession. Stone pelting led to minor injuries to two policemen and some civilians.

To control the situation, additional security forces, including Karnataka State Reserve Police, have been deployed, and prohibitory orders have been enforced.

Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders to prevent gatherings of more than four people until September 14 to maintain order and prevent further unrest.

The violence resulted in the vandalism of shops and the burning of vehicles, escalating tensions in the area.

To restore order, police used mild force to disperse the crowd and manage the situation during the unrest.

The group involved in the procession staged a protest outside the police station, demanding the arrest of those responsible for the violence.

A case has been filed against those involved for unlawful assembly, attempt to murder, obstructing public servants, and destruction of public property.

The situation in Mandya has largely returned to normalcy, with shops open and daily activities resuming, following the intervention of additional police forces.
