The 10.2-km bridge was being constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and was intended to enhance connectivity in the region.

Ten labourers were trapped under the debris following the collapse. While one person succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, the remaining nine were rescued with minor injuries and are reported to be out of danger.

NHAI Regional Officer YB Singh assured that adequate compensation would be provided to the deceased's family and the injured victims. The authorities are coordinating with experts to determine the cause of the accident and implement necessary corrective measures.

The collapsed portion of the bridge spans between piers 153 and 154, raising concerns about the structural integrity of the construction project.

Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, responsible for Road Construction, has initiated an inquiry into the incident and pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the collapse.

Sinha expressed condolences to the affected families and assured them of government support, including ensuring adequate compensation for the victims.

District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar and senior administration officials are at the site to assess the situation and coordinate rescue and investigation efforts.
