However, when asked for the massive success of social media, Divya Spandana doesn't take any credit for it. She said in an interview, 'Whatever following has increased is only because of him (Rahul Gandhi) and his views.'

In August 2017, Divya Spandana created the online campaign #AintNoCinderella to support Varnika Kundu, a woman who was 'chased and almost kidnapped' one night in Chandigarh. The campaign was started after senior Haryana state BJP politician Ramveer Bhatti told the press the attack was Kundu's fault for being out so late

The campaign started when Divya Spandana and friends began posting photos of themselves out late at night with the hashtag #AintNoCinderella. 'Why shouldn't women go out after midnight?' she said in an interview. 'I'm asking people like Mr Bhatti who are they to set curfew hours for us? I want to ask him who is he to question us? This is such a regressive mindset.'

The rumour that Divya Spandana was going to marry her boyfriend in 2013 were then proved false and the politician said that she was happy in her relationship
