The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the cyclone's trajectory and its intensification, cautioning about its possible impact on the south Andhra Pradesh coast.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin took stock of the situation, enquiring about the damages caused by heavy rains and ensuring preparedness for relief operations amidst the impending cyclone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi communicated with Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, ensuring support and assistance in dealing with the cyclone's aftermath.

The approaching cyclone has already claimed five lives and injured one in separate incidents in Chennai, leading to uprooted trees, extensive waterlogging, and disruptions to daily life.

Chennai's daily routine was disrupted as strong winds and heavy rains led to severe waterlogging, suburban railway closure, suspension of traffic movement, and the closure of the Chennai airfield until 9 am on Tuesday.

Tamil Nadu's CM contacted state ministers and officials overseeing relief operations, focusing on facilities provided to those sheltered in relief camps and monitoring ongoing rescue efforts.

The IMD issued alerts warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in north-coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Monday and Tuesday, while predicting similar conditions in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Chennai faced significant disruption due to heavy rainfall, resulting in flooded areas, including Marina Beach, and road blockages. The government advised precautionary measures and issued a red alert for the state.
