According to the BSF, the Pakistan Rangers initiated unprovoked firing in the Arnia area during the night, and BSF troops responded appropriately, including countering mortar shelling, which continued intermittently until 3 am.

The injured BSF personnel received necessary medical aid following the incident, emphasizing the commitment to safeguarding the India-Pakistan border, which spans 3,323 kilometres.

The unprovoked firing led to panic in the Arnia and RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir along the international border, causing damage to houses and significant concern among the local population.

Dev Raj Chowdhary, the Sarpanch of the border village Bulleh Chak in Sai Kalan, Arnia, highlighted the intensity of the firing from the Pakistani side and the retaliatory measures taken by Indian security forces.

Locals discovered mortar shells in the border village of Bulleh Chak, underscoring the potential dangers and damage caused by the overnight shelling from Pakistan.

The residents of the affected areas expressed their fear and concern as their homes and properties suffered damage, reinforcing the impact of this recent incident on the community. Despite the fear, a wedding party still went ahead with the ceremony.
