Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu was born on July 11, 1953 in Dadar, Mumbai. He went to Shardashram school and attended M.L Dahanukar college in Vile Parle. Suresh Prabhu is a chartered accountant by profession and also holds a law degree

Suresh Prabhu has handled several ministries in past from Railways to Environment, Power and Heavy Industries. He has also been Prime Minister’s Sherpa for G20 summit and Chairman of the Task Force on Interlinking of Rivers. 

Suresh Prabhu runs an NGO called Manav Sadhan Vikas Sanstha, a public charitable trust formed in 1998, which works towards the empowerment of people

Suresh Prabhu is a Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh. He has been four-time Member of the Lok Sabha from Rajapur Constituency of Maharastra and has also represented Haryana in the Rajya Sabha. 

Suresh Prabhu was elected four times to the Lok Sabha as a member of Shiv Sena. He lost his seat in 2009. On November 9, 2014, he quit the Shiv Sena to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
