Priyanka Chaturvedi was born on November 19, 1979, and raised in Mumbai. She is a Shiv Sena leader. Before joining the saffron party, she was a member and one of the National Spokespersons of Indian National Congress. Priyanka Chaturvedi has a large family - three sisters and one brother.

She attended St. Joseph's High School, Juhu in 1995 and graduated in Commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Vile Parle in 1999. Priyanka Chaturvedi was the first woman in her family to start working while pursuing a BCom degree from Juhu's Narsee Monjee College

Successful, in 2011, she was a part of the Indian School of Business's 10,000 Women programme, a scholarship programme by Goldman Sachs for women entrepreneurs. But, 26/11, Priyanka Chaturvedi says, changed her. Having run a well-known book review blog on Wordpress, Priyanka Chaturvedi along with other women bloggers, started calling in for financial help for the victims, to pay the school fees of children or skilling the women who'd been left without an income after their husbands' deaths. 

In 2009, she along with others, also set up an NGO in Goregaon called Prayaas Charitable Trust, which started working towards the education of street children, by enrolling them in BMC schools, supplementing the education if they were weak in a certain subject or giving them vocational training. The work was what brought the Youth Congress to her doorstep, asking her to join them. The next year, her political journey began

Priyanka Chaturvedi joined Congress in 2010, becoming General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress from North-West Mumbai in 2012. Priyanka Chaturvedi has a significant presence on social media. She has in the past defended the policies of the opposition Congress party on Twitter and criticised Narendra Modi and Smriti Irani

Having represented the Indian National Congress as its national spokesperson for four years, she raised a storm when, on April 18, 2019, she announced that she was quitting the party after it reinstated men who she had accused of harassing her in Mathura. Then she joined Shiv Sena, a regional party who allies with the Congress's nemesis Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

Priyanka Chaturvedi said Mumbai was her place of birth and karmabhumi. "I want to serve Mumbai. I think the Shiv Sena is the right party to ensure the welfare of youth and women. I have been living here since my birth. The Sena has been in my heart for years."

When Priyanka Chaturvedi moved to Shiv Sena from Congress, she was accused of being selfish, hypocritical and, even inconsequential. To that she said in an interview with mid-day, "There'll be 100 people out there judging on everything I get or don't get in the times to come, and I am not answerable to every single person."

Priyanka Chaturvedi said that joining politics was a move driven by wanting to make a change in the world

Priyanka Chaturvedi was engaged at 19 and married at 21. Priyanka Chaturvedi is married to Vickram Chaturvedi who is the Channel Marketing and Program Manager in IBM, India. The couple has two kids, Aarnav and Anitra Chaturvedi.

With no money and no background, Priyanka Chaturvedi's family questioned her move to join politics the move. "My husband was in shock. He said I will not survive in this space. It's a dirty world and I would not be allowed to grow." Yet he supported her decision

Priyanka Chaturvedi makes sure she spends time with her children because she rues the time she was away. In an interview with mid-day, Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "When my son gave his Class X board exams this year, I wasn't there for a single paper he wrote. When he expressed the desire to move to an IB school, I did not accompany him for the entrance exam." 

Priyanka Chaturvedi is an avid reader. As a kid, she says, she'd stay up till 3 am with a book, only to wake up at 6 am to head to school
