Actor-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan has primarily worked in Bengali movies. Nusrat started off as a model after winning the beauty contest Fair-one Miss Kolkata in 2010. Her onscreen debut was in Raj Chakraborty's Shotru in 2011. In 2019, Nusrat Jahan won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Trinamool Congress MP from Basirhat constituency.

She was born in a Bengali practicing Muslim family in Kolkata. She completed her schooling from Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Kolkata, and attended Bhawanipur College. In 2019, Nusrat Jahan married her long-time boyfriend, Nikhil Jain, who is a businessman.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nusrat Jahan who fought the elections as a TMC candidate defeated BJP's Sayantan Basu by 3,50,369 votes in Basirhat. For Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan, her new stint in politics is just like household work, and she believes she can easily balance her new role with her film career. She said, "For me, managing home and shooting for films both are my full-time jobs. Now I don't think to work for people will be like extra work. Handling two things is always difficult but everything can be balanced."

When Nusrat Jahan posted her photo with a close friend and another MP from Kolkata Mimi Chakraborty displaying the identity cards as MPs on the premises of Parliament, they were  trolled online for posting pictures in western outfits in front of the Parliament. Notably, the two had faced heavy trolling immediately after TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had announced their names as contestants for the 2019 General Elections

During the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Nusrat Jahan declared her assets to be worth over Rs 2.90 crore. Her movable assets were worth over Rs 90.88 lakh, which included Rs 5 lakh cash in hand, bank deposits of more than Rs 29.88 lakh, Alchemist bonds worth Rs one lakh, insurance investment worth Rs 2.5 lakh and professional fees receivable of Rs 5 lakh

As part of her movable assets, Nusrat Jahan possesses 450 gm of gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh, besides two luxury cars, one of which she bought in 2016. The 28-year-old actress had shown over Rs 25.67 lakh of total income in her income tax return for the financial year 2017-18

Nusrat Jahan also declared a self-acquired residential flat valued at Rs 2 crore in Kolkata, which she had bought during the financial year 2016-17. As per her affidavit, she has total liabilities of over Rs 1.68 crore in the way of home and car loans

Nusrat Jahan has declared that there is no criminal case pending against her and she has never been convicted for any criminal offence till date

Nusrat Jahan took her oath as MP a little late as she was supposed to get married. Nusrat Jahan looked every bit the traditional bride in a red designer lehenga as she tied the knot with her businessman beau Nikhil Jain in the picturesque Turkish town of Bodrum. The wedding took place at the Six Place Kapalankya, a luxury resort located in Milas, 84 km from Bodrum

Nusrat Jahan looked resplendent in the red Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga, while her husband Nikhil Jain chose an ivory ensemble by the same designer for their D-day. The wedding planning firm Weddings by ESL managed the intimate affair in Bodrum, Turkey. Before leaving for the destination wedding, which was only attended by the bride and groom's close family members and friends, there was a Haldi ceremony held in Kolkata. The pre-wedding functions included a Yacht Party, Bohemian themed Mehendi Party, Sun Kissed Party which happened in Bodrum

Nusrat Jahan's husband Nikhil Jain is a businessman. His family owns a textile chain of which Nusrat was the face of the enterprise. In 2018, the two got acquainted and started dating. The two tied the knot in a traditional ceremony which took place in the picturesque Turkish town of Bodrum in 2019

As an MP, Nusrat Jahan took the oath a little late than scheduled dates as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha. After taking the oath, Nusrat Jahan reportedly said that there were several things on her priority and she will raise the concerns of her voters in the House. The first issue raised by Nusrat Jahan in Parliament was the construction of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in her area Basirhat in West Bengal

In movies, Nusrat Jahan is famed for her oomph factor. She appeared in two item songs called Chicken Tandoori and Desi Chhori. Both the songs were instant hits and became chartbusters. Nusrat Jahan has worked in movies like Khoka 420, Jamai 420, Har Har Byomkesh, Sondhey Namar Age, Khiladi, Haripada Bandwala, Love Express, Zulfiqar, Ami Je Ke Tomar, Bolo Dugga Maiki, Crisscross, Naqaab to name a few

Nusrat Jahan danced in the song Joy Joy Durga Maa which was composed and featured by Jeet Gannguli, cricketer Sourav Ganguly, actress Subhashree Ganguly, Mimi Chakraborty, and actor Bonny Sengupta
