Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of the late Rajiv Gandhi and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, married businessman Robert Vadra on February 18, 1997, at the Gandhi residence, at 10 Janpath in New Delhi. 

Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra's wedding, which was a traditional Hindu ceremony, was a low key affair with about 150 guests in attendance.

Robert Vadra first met Priyanka Gandhi through his sister Michelle in 1985 when she was just 13 years old. 

It is said that it was Robert Vadra who stood by Priyanka Gandhi when the Gandhi family grieved after her father's assassination.

Priyanka Gandhi wore a south Indian sari which belonged to her grandmother, Indira Gandhi.

Robert Vadra's father, Rajendra Vadra hailed from Uttar Pradesh, while his mother Maureen is of Scottish origin.

Robert Vadra is active through his Facebook account and often seen conveying his support to Priyanka Gandhi and his brother-in-law Rahul Gandhi in their political journey. 

Social media has often been Robert Vadra's platform to send wishes to his wife and make political statements. On Priyanka Gandhi's entry into politics last year, he took to Facebook to extend his wishes.
