Crime files: The story of singer Harshita Dahiya who was shot dead

Haryanvi singer and dancer Harshita Dahiya was killed by four men on the direction of her brother-in-law and notorious gangster Dinesh Karala. Here's what the case was all about

When Harshita Dahiya was returning, a black car overtook her vehicle near Chamrara and forced it to stop

Panipat DSP Desh Raj said two unidentified youths asked the two assistants and the driver of the singer to come out of the car and later shot her in the vehicle.

The assailants fired seven bullets and six bullets hit Harshita's forehead and neck, resulting into her on the spot death, police said, adding that the youths fled the scene after killing her

Harshita Dahiya, a resident of Nahra-Nahri village of Haryana's Sonipat, was living in Narela of Delhi. She was on way to her home when the incident occurred. She was accompanied by a male singer, her assistant and driver

Sister of Harshita Dahiya accused her husband of killing the Haryanvi singer. 'Harshita was killed by my husband because she was a witness in my mother's murder case,' Lata, sister of Dahiya said

Panipat DSP Desh Raj said, 'Harshita's brother-in-law is charged with the murder of her mother. He is facing several criminal cases and is already in jail.'

Harshita Dahiya's mother was killed in 2014 in Delhi and the singer was the prime witness in the case, the police said. Harshita was living in Narela in Delhi

Meanwhile, a video clip has emerged purportedly showing Dahiya claiming that she was being threatened by some artistes from Haryana entertainment industry

In the video, Harshita Dahiya said, 'Some people from our industry, our own artists from Haryana are threatening me over phone to come to a compromise and delete the video, otherwise I will face consequences. I have not said anything wrong. 'Despite this, people are threatening me. I am not afraid of anybody. I will not delete our video... do whatever you want and I will not delete my live video. I am a Jaatni belonging to Jaat community) and I am not afraid of death'

Harshita Dahiya was seen saying in the video. It was not immediately clear which video she was referring to

Harshita Dahiya had also accused her brother-in-law of rape, and the man was jailed on the complaint

The police have recovered five blank cartridges from the spot and also recovered other evidences from the spot

When asked about the video, the DSP said, 'We are examining the case from all the angles. Several police teams are working on it and we will soon crack the case.'

Meanwhile, Panipat District Superintendent of Police, Desh Raj said a team has been formed and investigation is underway in the matter

Harshita Dahiya was born in 1995. However, her exact birthdate is not known

Harshita Dahiya had earlier filed a complaint against Dinesh. He is currently lodged in Tihar jail

Dinesh is accused of murdering Dahiya's mother and Harshita Dahiya is an eyewitness in her mother's murder case

Harshita Dahiya loved to click photos and selfies and her social media account was a proof of that

Harshita was a performer who sang Haryanvi 'Ragini' songs
