Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election 2024 LIVE: Average turnout at 54.85 per cent in 5 seats in Maharashtra till 5 pm

Nearly 54.85 per cent of the 95 lakh eligible voters have cast their ballots till 5 pm on Friday in the five Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra where polling is underway in the first phase of the general elections, the Election Commission (EC) said. The voter turnout stood at 54.85 per cent in Bhandara-Gondia till 5 pm, the Election Commission said. Chandrapur recorded a turnout of 55.11 per cent, Gadchiroli-Chimur 64.95 per cent, Nagpur 47.91 per cent and Ramtek 52.38 per cent till 3 pm, the EC said. The average turnout in the five seats was about 54.85 per cent till 3 pm.

Maharashtra Minister and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Chhagan Bhujbal, who was eyeing to contest as Mahayuti candidate in the Lok Sabha polls, has withdrawn from the race on Friday over the delay in the announcement of the candidate for the Nashik seat. "I am withdrawing from this fight. It's taking longer. Only discussion is going on. I am withdrawing from contesting the Lok Sabha elections," Bhujbal said while addressing a press conference on Friday.
