Uttar Pradesh crime: A man has been arrested in Ballia of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl for four months, the police said on Tuesday, reported the PTI.
According to the news agency, the girl allegedly went missing from her village under the Garhwar police station area on July 9. Based on the complaint lodged by her father, a case was registered against Neeraj Kumar Paswan and his parents, they said.
On November 11, the minor was rescued from Assam while the accused was arrested on Monday from near Chilkahar railway station, Superintendent of Police S Anand said on Tuesday, as per the PTI.
She told police that Paswan had abducted her, taken her to Assam and raped her for four months, he said.

Based on the victim's statement, a case was registered against Paswan under sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc) and 376 (rape) of the IPC and the POCSO Act, police said.
Meanwhile, in an another incident in Maharashtra, a laboratory technician employed at a diagnostic center in Mumbai's Mulund was arrested on charges of molesting a minor girl during a dental X-ray examination, police said. The accused, identified as Suraj Shinde, was taken into custody following the incident that occurred on Thursday, news agency ANI reported.
The 15-year-old victim, visiting the diagnostic center for a dental X-ray due to a toothache, reported that the lab technician behaved inappropriately during the procedure.
The police said, the girl immediately raised the alarm and informed her parents about the incident. The family rushed to the Mulund police station and complained about the same. In response to the girl's outcry, the accused promptly fled the scene.
The victim, accompanied by her family, promptly approached the nearest police station to file a complaint.
The Mulund police registered a case against Suraj Shinde under Section 354 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following his arrest, the accused was presented before a court, which ordered his police custody until November 13.
