Two Hindu organisations have moved the Supreme Court and have sought an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into âhate speeches' against Hindus and Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
As per a report in Bar and Bench, the plea was filed by Hindu Front For Justice and Hindu Sena as an intervention application in a petition already pending before the top court seeking probe into the Haridwar Dharam Sansad hate speeches targeting Muslims.
The petition pending before the SC was filed by former Patna High Court judge, Justice Anjana Prakash and journalist Qurban Ali seeking directions for an independent, impartial and credible probe into anti-Muslim hate speeches by an SIT.
The SC on January 12 had issued notice on the said plea to the Central Government and the Uttarakhand government.

The intervention application by the two Hindu groups stated that since SC has agreed to examine hate speeches against the Muslim community, it should also examine hate speeches against Hindus.
"The applicants herein through the present application are praying to this court to direct an SIT to investigate the hate speeches given against the members of the Hindu community, their gods and goddesses," the intervention application said.
The plea, filed through Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, cited a total of 25 instances wherein hate speeches against Hindus had occurred, and sought directions from the SC to examine the same.
It also sought directions against state governments to register first information reports (FIRs) against Muslim leaders Asaduddin Owaisi, Tauqeer Raza, Sajid Rashidi, Amanatullah Khan and Waris Pathan for allegedly making hate speeches against Hindus.
The petition alleged that the provocative speeches delivered by the above-mentioned Muslim leaders created an atmosphere of fear and unrest in the Hindu community and it reminded them of the working of Muslim League, which resulted in the partition of the country in 1947.
