Hyderabad police made significant strides in curbing drug peddling activities by apprehending two individuals in separate incidents and seizing narcotics, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler on Saturday.
In the first case, Mohd Majid (33), a Pan Maker residing in Mallapur, Balapur, Hyderabad, was intercepted and apprehended by the Commissioner's Task Force, South-East Zone team, along with Kanchanbagh Police. Acting on credible information, they seized 4 kg of Ganja chocolates, a two-wheeler, and a mobile phone from Hafeez Baba Nagar in Hyderabad. The seized contraband and items were valued at Rs 1,50,000, reported IANS.
According to the report, further investigation revealed that Majid had procured the Ganja chocolates for Rs. 8,000 from a person named Rajan Singh in Uttar Pradesh through courier services. He confessed to selling each chocolate for Rs. 40 to needy customers, engaging in illegal earnings.
"On credible information the sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force, South-East Zone team, Hyderabad along with the staff of Kanchanbagh PS intercepted a two-wheeler at Hafeez Baba Nagar, Hyderabad under the limits of Kanchanbagh Police Station and apprehended one person by name Mohd Majid. He was in possession of contraband i.e. Ganja Chocolates," Hyderabad police said in a press release, per the news agency.

According to police, "On April 25 at about 1000 hrs, on credible information Commissioner's Task Force, South-East Zone Team along with Kanchanbagh Police intercepted one two-wheeler in front of his house at C-Block, Hafeez Baba Nagar, Hyderabad under the limits of Kanchanbagh Police Station and apprehended one person in possession of a large quantity of Chocolates containing contraband Ganja."
In another case, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) collaborated with Madhuranagar Police to apprehend B Satya Sai (27), a resident of Madhavaram Nagar Colony, Kukatpally, Cyberabad. Sai, who was addicted to Ganja consumption, was found in possession of 2 kg of Ganja. He had been involved in the consumption and distribution of Ganja since 2022, procuring it from a known source and selling it to consumers in Hyderabad at inflated prices, the report added.
The police seized the Ganja and a mobile phone from Sai, marking a significant crackdown on drug peddling activities in the region, the news agency report further stated.
