Senior Congress leader Satish Chaturvedi was expelled from the party for anti-party activities on Friday

Senior Congress leader Satish Chaturvedi was expelled from the party for anti-party activities on Friday. The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday issued a press note announcing the former Maharashtra minister's expulsion from the party.

According to the statement, Chaturvedi supported rebel candidates and indulged in anti-party activities during the Nagpur Municipal Corporation Elections in 2017, which led to the defeat of Congress' candidates.

The statement further read that Chaturvedi was issued a show cause notice on January 23 by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) for his anti-party activities and indiscipline, but he didn't respond to it. Following which, the party decided to cancel his primary membership and expel him from the party.
