Six persons, including two children, drowned after their boat capsized in the Ujani dam backwaters in Maharashtra's Pune district, officials said on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.
The incident took place in Ujani dam backwaters on Tuesday evening following strong winds and rains, they said, reported PTI.
The victims included three men, a woman and two children, Indapur tehsildar Shrikant Patil said, reported PTI.
The boat service operates between Kalashi and Bhugav villages, he said.

Following strong winds and rains on Tuesday evening, the boat carrying seven persons overturned, he said, reported PTI.
An officer of the assistant police inspector-rank, who was among the seven persons on the boat, swam to safety, the official said.
According to Pune Rural Police, a search operation was underway with the help of the NDRF and local administration.
"Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local administration and police are deployed for search and rescue operations," they said.
In another incident, the body of an unidentified man, age around 50, was found on Parsik Hill on May 18 following which a case of murder was registered, Navi Mumbai police said, reported news agency PTI.
The victim was probably hit with a stone and had injuries on the head, neck and nose, said senior inspector Giridhar Gore of CBD police station, reported PTI.
He had also been attacked with a sharp weapon.
Further probe was on, the official said.
