President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to the citizens on the formation day of Gujarat and Maharashtra, expressing hope for their continued contributions to the nation's development.
In a bilingual post on X, President Murmu conveyed her heartfelt wishes to the people of Gujarat, acknowledging their commendable achievements and contributions to the state and the country. She expressed confidence in Gujarat's ongoing journey of progress and wished its citizens a prosperous future, reported PTI.
According to the report, similarly, in another message on X, President Murmu extended her sincere congratulations to all citizens, especially those from Maharashtra, on the state's formation day.
"My heartiest greetings to all the countrymen and especially to the Gujarati brothers and sisters on Gujarat Day. The hardworking, talented and enterprising people of Gujarat have brought glory to the state and the country across the world. Gujarat is one of the leading states of the country on many parameters of development. I am confident that the people of Gujarat will continue to make effective contributions to the development of the country. My heartiest wishes for a bright future for all of them," she said in a post in Hindi and Gujarati on X.

Recognising Maharashtra's rich heritage and notable figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, she lauded the state's significant contributions to the nation's advancement. President Murmu expressed hope that Maharashtra would continue to set exemplary standards in the country's development journey.
"This land, which was the birthplace and workplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has given the country great personalities like Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, Tarabai Shinde and Babasaheb Ambedkar," the president said.
"The people of Maharashtra have been continuously making invaluable contributions to the progress of the country. I wish that the people of Maharashtra continue to set new standards in the development journey of the country. My heartfelt best wishes for the bright future of the people of the state," she said in Hindi and Marathi on X.
Gujarat and Maharashtra were established on May 1, 1960, following the division of the former Bombay state based on linguistic considerations.
