As he inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the restoration of Nalanda will usher in India's 'Golden Age'. PM Modi expressed his delight at visiting Nalanda immediately after taking office for the third time, describing it as more than simply a name, but a sign of endurance in which knowledge endures despite hardships, reported ANI.

"I am happy that I got the opportunity to visit Nalanda within 10 days after swearing in as PM for the third time," PM Modi said and added, "Nalanda is more than just a name, it's a mantra, an identity, a declaration that books might get destroyed in fire, but knowledge persists. The revival of Nalanda will mark the beginning of the Golden Age of India."

"Nalanda's reawakening, this new campus, will give the world an introduction to India's capability," said the PM.

According to the report, PM Modi emphasised the university's international relevance, saying, "Nalanda is not just a renaissance of India's past. The heritage of many countries of the world and Asia is linked to it. Our partner countries have also participated in the reconstruction of Nalanda University. I greet all the friendly countries of India on this occasion."

"Nalanda was once the epicentre of India's educational identity. Education goes beyond the realms of borders, profits and losses. Education shapes our thoughts and behaviour. During ancient times, admission to Nalanda University was not based on the nationality of the student. People from different walks of life used to come here in pursuit of education," said PM Modi.

Per the ANI report, speaking on International Yoga Day, which is commemorated every June 21, PM Modi emphasised its global significance, saying, "Yoga has become a global celebration, symbolising India's ancient wisdom and universal appeal."

PM Modi, per the news agency report, said that it is his ambition for India as a global hub of education and sustainability, saying, "My mission is to make India a centre of knowledge once again. We have historically balanced progress and environmental sustainability."

The new Nalanda campus, intended as a 'Net Zero' green campus, embodies these ideas with solar plants, water treatment and recycling facilities, and expansive green spaces.

Finally, PM Modi detailed Nalanda University's future role in cultural exchange and engagement with ASEAN countries, emphasising the university's critical position as Asia's educational beacon in the twenty-first century, the report stated.

The new campus includes modern amenities such as academic buildings, auditoriums, hostels, an international centre, and a sports complex, combining tradition with innovation.
