This event comes after a succession of identical email bomb threats addressed to schools in Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Bengaluru, all of which turned out to be hoaxes, generating widespread concern.
In April, the Delhi High Court demanded a thorough status report from the Delhi government on the hoax bomb threats in private schools. On May 17, the Delhi Police filed a status report with the High Court, indicating that five bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams are operating in each district, including IGI Airport, railways, and the metro.
The report also stated that there are 1,764 schools in the Central Range, 1,032 in the Eastern Range, 1,762 in the Southern Range, and 76 in the New Delhi Range.
A petitioner has requested a clear action plan from the government and police to handle the frequent bomb threats. The petitioner underlined the importance of regular evacuation drills and other safety precautions to safeguard the safety of pupils in schools, which are currently underprepared to manage such events.
The Delhi Police and emergency services are aggressively managing the current situation at North Block to ensure the safety of all personnel.
