NEET-PG counselling: FAIMA announces complete withdrawal of healthcare services across country from Dec 29

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has called for complete withdrawal from all healthcare services across the country from 8 am on December 29. "in protest against brute force by Delhi Police against doctors".

FAIMA issued a statement which reads, "This is to inform all that the medical fraternity stands absolutely shocked at the sheer display of unprovoked brute force by Delhi Police on our colleagues who have been peacefully protesting in Delhi and many other states since the last one month, with their genuine demand for the immediate declaration of NEET-PG 2021 counselling schedule. However, the lathi charge on our resident doctors and manhandling of many female residents by male police personnel during their peaceful demonstration is a pathetic display of the shameless attitude of the authorities, who we could not believe would stoop so low."

Earlier, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) announced the total shutdown of healthcare services on December 27.

On December 27, a clash took place between doctors and police in Delhi. Meanwhile, resident doctors are protesting over the delay in NEET-PG counselling across the country since November 27.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has also asked for an apology from Union Health Minister over the alleged police brutality on doctors and has urged PM Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter.
