Police took at least 60 persons in custody for staging a protest at Mantralaya, the state secretariat, on Thursday evening. The protesters were seeking action against a builder who allegedly duped them in a slum-rehabilitation authority (SRA) project.
Beneficiaries of an SRA building project in suburban Malad today gathered at Mantralaya to submit their application. The builder allegedly duped some of them by declaring them ineligible and delaying the delivery of flats to some others, said a police official.
After submitting the application to concerned officials, they staged a protest, so police arrested them. They were taken to the police station and released later.
