Modi exudes confidence in BJP's prospects, describes opposition INDIA alliance as 'Ghamandia'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that the opposition introduced a no-confidence motion against his government to assess the unity of its own alliance members due to prevailing distrust within the INDIA bloc. Addressing BJP MPs during a closed-door meeting of its parliamentary party, he referred to the opposition alliance as "ghamandia" (marked by arrogance) and praised the party's Rajya Sabha members for their "semi-final" victory in the voting on the Delhi services bill, according to sources present.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal quoted Modi as saying that despite the government's strong majority, the opposition brought the no-confidence motion to gauge their alliance's cohesion. In reference to the voting on the Delhi services bill in the Rajya Sabha, Modi emphasized that the government secured more votes than anticipated, underscoring that the bill adhered to constitutional principles.

Modi projected confidence in the BJP's prospects for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, asserting that the BJP will not only retain power but also make significant gains. He encouraged party MPs to continue their efforts with vigour, likening their tasks to hitting "sixers" on the last ball before the 2024 polls.

Moreover, the Prime Minister reiterated his call to eradicate corruption, dynastic politics, and appeasement from Indian politics. He called on party MPs to participate in various programs aimed at national development, including the upcoming Partition Horrors Remembrance Day and the "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative in the lead-up to Independence Day.

As part of the party's vision for India's development, Modi proposed the organization of an "amrit kalash yatra," a campaign to collect urns containing soil or grains from across the country to create a symbolic garden. This initiative is expected to continue until Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary on October 31.

The Narendra Modi-led NDA Government will face a no-confidence motion in Parliament. The no-confidence motion was moved by the opposition parties of I.N.D.I.A bloc and accepted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whose parliamentary membership was restored on Monday will open the discussion on the no-confidence motion. A time period of 12 hours has been fixed for the discussion.

YSRCP, Shiv Sena, JDU, BJD, BSP, BRS and LJP have been given a total of two hours, which has been divided according to the number of party's MPs in the House.

A time limit of one hour 10 minutes has been allotted for other parties and independent MPs. (Agencies)
