A woman died and two others sustained injuries in a collision between a private bus and a state transport bus on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, police reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred on the Chikhali-Mehkar stretch of Samruddhi Expressway on Saturday morning when a private bus travelling from Surat to Mehkar collided with a state transport bus from behind.
A female passenger aboard the state transport bus suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Two other passengers sustained injuries and are receiving medical treatment.
The driver of the luxury bus has been arrested under section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence, along with other relevant charges.

In a separate incident on Sunday morning, one person was injured when a car collided with a stationary truck near Shindkhed toll plaza on the expressway. The car driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Jalna for treatment, the PTI report added.
Another incident occurred earlier in April on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Nashik district, killing at least two people and badly injuring three more, according to PTI.
The SUV was going from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Nashik when it lost control and flipped in Khamble Shivar hamlet, near Sinnar. The deceased were named Bajirao Eknath Gangurde (65) and Nisha Ramkisan Gatkal (20), with one admitted to a private hospital in Sinnar and the other to the District Civil Hospital in Nashik, the news agency report stated.
Meanwhile, another tragic tragedy occurred on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Motorway in Gujarat's Kheda District. A fast car crashed with a halted truck, killing ten people, including a kid. The truck was en route from Pune to Jammu when it came to a halt owing to a mechanical issue, resulting in the terrible incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both accidents were caused by a loss of vehicle control and mechanical failure. Authorities are investigating the occurrences to gather more information and maintain road safety.
