Maharashtra Weather Update: Rain or thunder showers likely in Nagpur till June 5

The India Meteorological Department on Monday predicted rain or thundershowers with strong gusty winds for next days in Maharashtra's Nagpur. The maximum temperature may reach 41 degree celsius while minimum may be 28 degree celsius, said an official release.

In the official statement, the Met department said Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over all districts of Vidarbha till June 5.

Isolated places over Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal of Vidarbha are predicted to witness similar conditions even on June 6 and 7.

Meanwhile, Amravati recorded 43 degree celsius today marking the hottest region in Vidarbha today.

Maharashtra Weather update Thunderstorm with light rainfall in parts of Vidarbha today says IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday evening predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and light rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Washim and Yavatmal districts of Maharashtra's Vidarbha. The department also said that these areas may experience gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 Kmph.

Meanwhile, Brahmapuri recorded highest temperture in the state today with mercury reaching up to 46.5 degree celsius. Other regions of the Vidarbha like Nagpur, Akola, Chandrapur and others witnessed temperatures beyond 40 degree celsius The lowest was recorded in Mahabaleshwar at 18.5 degree celsius, said the IMD.

State capital Mumbai was recorded at a modest temperature of 35.1 degree celsius.

Director of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, Sunil Kamble said the monsoon will take eight to ten days to cover Maharashtra after arriving in Kerala. Sunil Kamble said that the monsoon is expected to reach Kerala in the next 24 hours, reported news agency ANI.

"If you talk about Mumbai, the temperature range of Mumbai is 35-36 degrees centigrade. And for the summer season, these are quite normal temperatures. But because of the high humidity, like 80% to 90% humidity is there. That's why even at 35 percent-36 percent centigrade, we are getting the feel of 40 degrees. And if you look in and around Maharashtra, the temperature range is between 38 percent and 40 percent centigrade...," Kamble told ANI.
