The officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Tuesday seized 975.5 kg of ganja in Nagpur, reported news agency ANI.
The officers of the Nagpur Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Tuesday intercepted one truck at Borkhedi Toll Plaza near Nagpur seizing 975.5 kg of ganja, reported ANI.
"On examining the truck carefully, a total of 478 packets with a gross weight of 975.5 kg of a substance believed to be ganja were found concealed beneath a consignment/bags of vermicompost. Upon testing with the drug detection testing kit, the substance tested positive for ganja in Nagpur. The value of the suspected ganja is approximately Rs. 1.95 Ccr," DRI stated in a press release, reported ANI.
One person who was driving the said vehicle was apprehended and subsequently arrested under provisions of the NDPS Act and remanded to judicial custody, said DRI, reported ANI.

Further investigation to apprehend the suppliers and receivers of the said suspected narcotic drug is in progress.
in another case, two persons were arrested allegedly with mephedrone worth Rs 2.04 crore in Versova in Andheri West, a Mumbai Crime Branch official said on Saturday, reported PTI.
He identified the two as Mahendra Chandra Singh (40) and Sayed Murtuza Fahmi (37), reported PTI.
"Singh works as a delivery man in a catering firm. He was checked by Crime Branch officials on Friday on suspicion and 1.02 kilogram of mephedrone worth Rs 2.04 crore was found with him. He said he was to deliver the consignment to Sayed," the official said, reported PTI.
Sayed's brother has also been arrested earlier in a case being probed by the Narcotics Control Bureau, the official said.
Meanwhile, two Nigerians were arrested by Mumbai police's Anti Narcotics Cell from Aarey area of Goregaon with mephedrone worth Rs 17.40 lakh, reported PTI.
They allegedly supplied drugs in Vasai, Virar and Nalasopara areas of neighbouring Palghar district, an official said.
Meanwhile, the police have registered an offence against unidentified persons for allegedly pilfering raw material worth Rs 44.5 lakh from the godown of a firm supplying goods to pharmaceutical companies in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Saturday, reported PTI.
Based on a complaint, a case under section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Narpoli police station on Friday, the official said, reported PTI.
