Lok Sabha elections 2024: 61.20 pc voter turnout recorded in Phase 6, West Bengal leads with 79.47 pc

The approximate voter turnout for sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 for 58 parliamentary constituencies was 61.20 percent till 11:45 pm on Saturday, as per the data shared by the Election Commission. West Bengal recorded highest voter turnout with 79.47 percent, according to the poll body, reported news agency ANI.

"The same shall continue to be updated by the field level officers as polling parties keep returning and will be available PC wise (along with respective AC segments) live at VTR App, as was the case in earlier phases," the Election Commission said in a press release.

As per the reports, West Bengal recorded the highest number of voter turnout with 79.47 percent followed by Odisha with 69.56 percent, Jharkhand with 63.76 percent, Haryana with 60.4 percent, Delhi with 57.67 percent, Bihar with 55.24 percent. Apart from this , Jammu and Kashmir also recorded 54.30 percent and Uttar Pradesh with 54.03 percent.

The sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 included eight seats in Bihar, all ten seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four seats in Jharkhand and all seven sets in Delhi, six seats in Odisha, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, and eight seats in West Bengal. A total of 889 candidates contested across these regions.

Assembly elections and Lok Sabha Elections are held simultaneously in Odisha. And voting for the 42 assembly constituencies in Odisha was also held in the sixth phase, as reported by ANI.

New Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi and Chandni Chowk in the national capital and Sultanpur and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri, West Bengal's Tamluk, Medinipur, Haryana's Karnal, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Rohtak, and Odisha's Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur are some key seats in the sixth phase.

This phase of election is one of the most important phases as the stakes are high for the Bharatiya Janata Party and for INDIA bloc.

As per the data, there are over 11.33 crore voters which include 5.84 crore males, 5.29 crore females and 5120 third-gender. They were all eligible for voting and also casted their votes. Around 11.4 lakh polling officials will be involved in conducting this phase of the election.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be completed on June 1 after the seventh phase. The result will be declared on June 4.
