Karnataka Police have arrested a house owner on charges of raping an 8-year-old girl when she was alone at her rented house in Madanayakanahalli police station limits in the outskirts of Bengaluru on Tuesday, reported the IANS.
According to police, the accused man had committed the crime when the girl was alone and her parents had gone to work. The family of the victim had come to stay in the house a month ago, as per an IANS report.
The victim has been admitted to a private hospital and was being treated.
The police have booked the accused under the provision of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Man held for raping minor girl in Navi Mumbai
Meanwhile in an another incident in Maharashtra, the Navi Mumbai Police in Maharashtra on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl residing in his neighbourhood in Navi Mumbai township, an official said, reported the PTI.
The 40-year-old accused and the victim were residents of the same building in Ulwe area of Navi Mumbai, an official had said on Sunday, the news agency reported.
According to the PTI, on Saturday evening, the victim went to the house of the accused for playing. The accused then allegedly raped her, the official from NRI Sagari police station had ealrier said.
The police said that the accused had earlier also sexually assaulted the girl, showed her obscene photographs and asked her not to inform about it to anyone, as per the PTI.
After the offence on Saturday, the girl informed her mother about it. The victim's parents then filed a police complaint following which the accused was arrested, the official said.
The accused was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 376(2)(j)(n) (rape of a female under 12 years of age or a woman incapable of giving consent), 376AB (rape of female under 12 years of age) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said, the news agency reported.
