India logs 109 Covid-19 cases in a day, active tally at 1,460

India's Covid-19 infection tally rose by 109 in a day while active cases have declined to 1,460 from 1,476 a day ago, according to Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll has been recorded at 5,31,915, the data stated. The tally of Covid-19 cases has been recorded at 4.49 crore. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,61,789 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.

According to the ministry's website, 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, Mumbai on Thursday reported five new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,164,013, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said in a health bulletin.

Presently, the city now has 20 active Covid-19 cases.

According to data, Mumbai's overall growth rate of cases between July 13 and July 19 is 0.0003 per cent, and the recovery rate stood at 98.3 per cent.

So far, 189,09,232 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the city, including 471 samples taken in the past 24 hours.

The caseload doubling time is 343,369 days, as per civic data.

Maharashtra reported 12 new cases and zero death. According to the bulletin, 11 patients were discharged today taking the total tally of recovered patients to 80,21,411. "The recovery rate in the state is 98.18 per cent," said the health official.

"The case fatality rate in the state is 1.81 per cent, " added the health official.

Out of 8,73,88,011 laboratory samples 81,70,043 have tested positive (9.35 per cent) for Covid-19 until today.

"Around 3,450 test were done today out of which 2,516 test were conducted in government laboratories, 934 were done in private laboratories," the health official said.

At present dominant variant of Covid is Omicron XBB.1.16. Total 1,716 cases were found to be infected with this variant. There were 19 deaths reported among the cases of this variant.

Since January 1, 2023, 126 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. 72.22per cent of these deathsv have occurred in individuals above 60 years of age, 84per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, 16per cent did not have any comorbidity.
