The Gurugram police on Tuesday arrested three out of the five accused identified for starting a fire in a mazar at Khandsa village here, officers said. According to police, the five men committed the act after getting influenced by social media posts on the communal clashes that began in the neighbouring Nuh district and spread to other parts of the city and nearby areas last week.
The three arrested men have been identified as Gulshan, Vijay and Lalit, all residents of Khandsa village, a police officer said. He said while Gulshan is a shopkeeper, Vijay is an auto driver and Lalit works as a delivery boy for a pharmacy. Meanwhile, the Haryana government has transferred Deputy Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash from Nuh to Panchkula, following a series of communal violence incidents.
According to the order issued on Monday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Siwani) in Bhiwani district Mukesh Kumar will take over from Prakash. Earlier, Superintendent of Police Varun Singla and Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar were transferred out of Nuh. Singla was on leave when communal clashes broke out in the district. Meanwhile, citing curfew and security concerns, a 10-member delegation of Haryana Congress was stopped from entering violence-hit villages of Nuh district, police said. The delegation returned after that, they added.
