Guru Nanak Jayanti (Gurupurab) is a festival celebrated by the Sikh Community annually. Guru Nanak Jayanti is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism. He played a prominent role in strengthening the Sikh community.
This year, Gurupurab is celebrated on November 8, 2022 and is observed as the 553rd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. This festival falls fifteen days after Diwali on the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima and is observed with full fervor and enthusiasm by Sikhs across the world.

On the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Akhand Path, a 48-hour recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib is held in the Gurudwaras. Guru Granth Sahib is composed of all his teachings. In addition to this, Nagarkirtan is organised a day before Guru Nanak's birthday.
