PM Modi says won’t allow anyone to destroy the lives of youth, as Kejriwal strives to make inroads

An AAP rally in Gujarat. The party is now focussing on PM’s home state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said ‘Urban Naxals' were trying to gain entry into Gujarat by changing their appearance, but the state will not allow them to destroy the lives of youth. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the country's first bulk drug park in Bharuch district.

"Urban Naxals are trying to enter the state with new appearances. They have changed their costumes. They are misleading our innocent and energetic youth into following them," Modi said in a veiled attack on the AAP which is trying to make inroads into Gujarat ahead of the state Assembly polls due later this year.

"The Urban Naxals are setting foot from above... They're agents of foreign powers. Gujarat will not bow down its head against them, Gujarat will destroy them," he said.

External Affairs Minister on Monday said that India has flagged issues related to Khalistani separatist forces operating out of Canada to Ottawa, emphasising the need to ensure that freedoms in a democratic society are not misused by forces which actually advocate "violence" and "bigotry". In recent weeks, anti-India activities in Canada have been on the rise. Jaishankar made the comments during a press conference with his Australian peer after the 13th Foreign Ministers' Framework Dialogue.
