Goa Police arrested a man from Mumbai on Tuesday on charges of kidnapping a minor girl who resided in a hostel, an officer confirmed. According to a report in ANI, the accused was identified as 21-year-old Akshay Manohar Tayde who is a resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
According to Mapusa's sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Jivba Dalvi, the hostel's warden reported the event on Sunday, January 7. According to the complaint, a 14-year-old girl left the hostel in the afternoon to go shopping at Mapusa Market and did not return, the ANI report stated.
The report, citing an official statement from Goa Police, stated that they registered a First Information Report at Mapusa police station under Section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children's Act.
Following SDPO Dalvi's instructions, Police Inspector Shitakant Nayak established squads to gather information on the accused, the report added.

During the investigation, it was determined that the accused had moved with the missing little child.
"Further, SDPO Dalvi contacted his counterparts in Mumbai Police. Staff was deputed at Navpada, Mumbai and after thorough human and technical investigation, the victim and the accused person were traced at Mumbai and brought to Mapusa," according to the police statement cited in ANI report.
Reportedly, the authorities said that the man was arrested from Mumbai and is in police custody. "Further investigation is ongoing," Goa Police said in a release, expecting more information.
In another unrelated case from Thane, the cops have arrested three persons for conspiring to kill a man. An official, on Wednesday, told PTI that the cops recovered firearms and explosives.
Reportedly, the trio were arrested on Monday night near an auto-rickshaw stand in Ratandale hamlet on the Mumbai-Agra highway on suspicion, according to a Shahapur police station official. The cops during a search found three knives, a hand bomb, two gelatin sticks, a detonator, a motorbike and a pace, the official claimed.
According to the official, after they were questioned, it was found that they had allegedly plotted to kill a relative of one of the accused's sister as he had been mistreating her since her husband's death.
