Missionaries of Charity, a catholic congregation set up by Mother Teresa was denied Foreigners Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration due to "audit irregularities", said a government official as per a report in The Hindu.
This comes after the ministry of home affairs informed that it has refused to renew FCRA registration after noticing some "adverse inputs."
FCRA registration is mandatory for any NGO or congregation to receive foreign funds. MHA is the controlling authority of FCRA and it conducts inspections and audits of NGOs.
