Several expectant mothers across India have been making one request--to deliver their babies on January 22 to coincide with Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration. According to the media reports, the women have asked for caesarean deliveries to align with Ram Lalla's idol consecration at the shrine.

In Kanpur several women have requested caesarean section deliveries at a government hospital, aligning with the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on January 22.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College has received written requests for 12 to 14 caesarean deliveries on this auspicious day, with plans underway for a total of 35 procedures.

Seema Dwivedi, interim director of the department, stated that families regard the day as particularly auspicious, even if their due dates are a few days before or after January 22. She expressed anxiety about ignoring potential difficulties because of pressure from her family. Expectant moms believe that kids born on this day will inherit the traits represented by Lord Ram - heroism, honesty, and obedience.

Malti Devi, one of the expecting mothers, stated her desire for her kid to be born on the day of the consecration ritual, wishing for success and glory.

Divya Gupta, a psychologist, noted that people equate auspicious birth periods with beneficial effects on a baby's personality, emphasising the importance of religion and spirituality in bringing strength and a positive outlook.

Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, at least some 60 women have made the request, said in-charge of state-run PC Sethi Hospital.

"Some 60 pregnant women have requested that their deliveries be carried out on January 22 to coincide with the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The pregnancy terms of these women end around January 22," Dr Virendra Rajgir, medical officer-in-charge of the state-run PC Sethi hospital, told PTI.

He said that the decision, however, will be taken after taking into consideration the health of both the mother and child.

The report quoted Babli (30), a pregnant woman saying, "The doctors have given me a tentative date between January 19 and February 10 but I wish I deliver on January 22. It is when the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be inaugurated."
